Hurghada Taxi Costs from Desert Pearl
Before you enter the taxi, tell the driver where you are going
and make an offer using the chart below. You say 10, they will
say 15, just say "no, it's ok" and they'll take 10.
There are plenty of cabs so you won't wait long. All day when
walking about you will hear beeping. Cars beep each other out
of the way, cabs beep at everyone to let them know they are there,
they beep at junctions to warn people not to pull out.
Egyptian cab drivers only know 1 speed, fast! They will whizz
about dangerously, weaving between traffic and constantly beeping
their horns. It is best to look out the side windows, not the
front!
Sekalla consists basically of a long street full of tourist
shops, furniture shops, banks, fast food and bars. At the Hurghada
end you have Hed Kandi, and Ministry/Marina are at the opposite end.
For the return journey its best to ask for something like Sindbad
Bowling Centre (which is a couple of buildings along from Desert
Pearl).
