Hurghada Excursions

The Hurghada area is a place rich in historical sites and natural beauty. Your hotel will be able to organise for you guided or non-guided visits to some of these sights. Here is a selection of interesting excursions from Hurghada. You may wish to Hire a car (and driver) for some of these.

Giftun Island National Park 
The Giftun Island excursion has been a must for holiday-makers since many years. The beauty of this desert island and its surrounding coral reefs makes for a wonderful day at sea. All hotels, diving and aqua centres in Hurghada offer excursions to Giftun, by boat and with snorkelling equipment included, on full day basis. Nowadays, two operators have been allowed to create fully serviced beaches on the island, with a restaurant, stylish palm tree shadows, beach volley, stretchers and toilets to make the most of your day on the island.

Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul 
A two hours drive takes you back in history and to two of the most inspiring and peaceful places of the Red Sea, the places where monasticism was born. The monks at both monasteries will introduce you to an ancient fascinating world. Apt to everybody.

Luxor 
Many people choose to combine a relaxing holiday by the Red Sea with the sights of Ancient Egypt and the era of the pharaohs. Excursions to Luxor from Hurghada are available either by plane, departing from the Hurghada airport, or by bus. The most popular excursion to Luxor is on a full day basis, with an early morning departure, but you also have the choice to spend a night in Luxor and see the awesome sights, including Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple in two days.

 

Cairo / Giza

Similar to Luxor, you can visit Cairo by plane or by bus and this is most definitely a full day trip (8hrs each way by coach).  Visit the mighty Sphinx and gaze at the only remaining Wonder of the World, The Great Pyramid of Giza.
