Hurghada by Night
Until a few years
ago, Hurghada was a divers’ paradise where the only entertainment
around was to sit under the stars chatting away and having an
odd-looking and odd-tasting beer, with somebody producing an
improbable guitar or a crackling radio!
Nowadays, Hurghada
is “the” party town par excellence in the Red Sea west coast. A
town that never sleeps, Hurghada has become in recent years a place
to combine beach, dives and sun with crazy clubbing and bar-hopping,
with some excellent “shisha” outlets to experience the local
life in between. Life
could be said to begin there at night. Nearly every hotel has
its own disco.
An array of
bustling bars, nightclubs, pubs and discos transform Hurghada into
the Red Sea's very own party town. The pace hots up in town where
there are foam parties, jungle discos and beach parties with
bonfires, live bands, dancing, light shows and international DJs
pumping up the volume. Hurghada boasts the world's first
Hed Kandi Beach Bar which opened in 2007.
The
Local beer is Sakkara, which is normally around 14LE per 0.5l.
Cocktails average around 21LE.
There
are deals to be made at certain places, I.e. Papas offer 8 Tequila shots for
LE170 or 12 single of spirits + mixers for LE110.
Like
everywhere, beware of rip-off prices in certain locations!!
PAPAS BEACH BAR
is a very popular place in Hurghada, this is an open air dance club,
beach, bar and restaurant located right on the beach. Open until
until the dawn.
For the entrance, you will pay ~30LE, and for it you will get three
tokens. Coffee/Juice costs 1, Beer is 2, Cocktails and alcoholic
drinks 3.
After the tokens; Coffee/Juice is 7LE, Beer (Sakarra/Carlsberg)
~14LE, Imported Alcoholic drinks & Cocktails ~21LE.
At Papa's Bar and Papa's II you can pick up a free entrance pass to
the beach club. There were some good drinks specials aimed at
groups and you can also order beer by the metre!
There is no dress code - everything from bikini tops and board
shorts to formal evening wear seemed to get in. You are
located on the sand so the best thing is to come in sandals, not
high heels!
Mr. X
is a cool club opened during the day until 3 or 4 am. You can sit or
lay down on fun low postured couches, have mint tea, beer, shisha of
various flavours. At around midnight, on a very small dancing
podium, people start dancing, the owner himself sometimes. Mr. X has
a VERY RELAXED ambience, pleasant waiters, and nice music-Latino,
pop, disco, a bit of modern techno beats...

Ministry of Sound
is the place to go in Hurghada. An open air 1500
capacity venue with podium dancers, fantastic DJ's and a great sound and light
system. Every night of the week is a different party, different decor and
different music. They have nights such as Latin Grooves, Smooth (RnB + Hip
Hop), Old Skool, Big Tunes and Dance Nation. The atmosphere is one of a kind,
partying on the beach under the stars, it doesn't get much better than that.
Prices are fair and you get tokens upon entrance to get a free drink. The
staff are friendly and the service is also very good. Dress code is
pretty relaxed, no caps allowed, trainers and flip flops are OK. For more
information on Ministry of Sound Beach Club, visit their
Hurghada Nightlife webpage.

Calypso
is less fancy then Papas Beach Club. The good thing is that it's not
overcrowded because the place is huge. Not many locals visit this place.
Entrance costs ~40-50LE. The performances are interesting, but not very
original nor authentic.
